Gifting Holiday Cheer Amidst a Pandemic

While we knew this holiday season would look different, we couldn’t let a pandemic stop us from sharing Horizon holiday cheer. With the help of some generous Calgarians, we delivered over 800 holiday gifts to all Horizon homes! Check out the local goodies inside and find out who helped make the gifts possible.

Gifts galore, with an extra special message: your community cares about you! What goes around comes around, and at the end of a year no one expected, we wanted to support our local partners. Alberta-based business Worthy added fantastic flavours of hand-crafted salsa to our Gifts of Warmth. To top it off, our friends at United Active Living collected drawings and inspirational quotes from their residents to create a unique colouring book for the people who call Horizon home. With a few other additions, made possible by local sponsors, we were able to share a delicious and fun holiday gift with residents.

This year’s resident gift was made possible by our generous community of supporters:

  • Brownlee LLP
  • Commons Church
  • HCM Contractors Inc.
  • Krywolt Insurance Brokers
  • Lauren Rendle and friends
  • MAXgreen Group Ltd.
  • Westcor

But that’s not all: throughout the month we’ve been humbled by our many community partners who have reached out to keep on giving.

Commons Church organized a delivery of restaurant meals prepared and individually packaged so many residents could enjoy a turkey dinner this Christmas.

The Calgary Hitmen provided 600 teddy bears as a special gift for families and children who live with Horizon.

And finally, we are so grateful for cat and dog holiday hampers from Parachutes for Pets for Horizon households, because furry friends are family too.

It has been heartwarming to see Calgarians rally like never before to share the season of the season. Thank you, Calgary!
