Horizon View

Horizon View is a five-story building located in the community of Glamorgan. It was constructed in two phases over three years and offers 210 units consisting of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, as well as three-bedroom townhomes. The building also offers 22 accessible units and 10 adaptable units for residents with mobility challenges.

Horizon View was designed by residents, for residents. Based on interviews and focus groups with current Horizon residents, we incorporated more in-suite storage, wider hallways, larger windows, a secure space to store bicycles and on-site office space for supporting partner agencies. The exterior has plenty of open green space, with plans for a playground in spring 2021.

The building also includes a five- and six-bedroom group-home style ‘pod’ with 24/7 care provided by the Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency (URSA). Here, children with complex medical needs and adults with severe brain injuries receive the care they need in homes integrated within the community.

Phase 1 opened in November 2018, and phase 2 welcomed residents home in June 2020. Horizon View was completed thanks to support from the Government of Canada (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation), Government of Alberta, City of Calgary, generous donors to the RESOLVE Campaign and countless community partners.
