"On the Horizon" A Yearly Update on Horizon Housing Society
The third issue of "On the Horizon" was released in December of 2011. This issue reflected on the past year and highlighted how Horizon Housing Society was able to spread a little extra cheer during the holiday season.

Provincial Funding
On September 8, 2011, The Government of Alberta announced that Horizon Housing Society would receive $10.7 million to help purchase a 100 unit apartment building in the City of Calgary. This will allow Horizon Housing Society to
provide affordable, integrated and supported homes to an additional 100 Calgarians in need. read more...

3rd Annual Tenant Stampede BBQ
The 3rd Annual Horizon Housing Society Tenant Stampede BBQ was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, and was attended by approximately 150 tenants, staff and agency partners. Special guests Minister Jonathan Denis and Alison Redford
came by to show their support for the Society, and to flip some burgers. The event was made possible through the support and donations of many local businesses, and by the hard work of everyone who showed up to volunteer.
The Annual BBQ provides an opportunity for the tenants to interact as a community and enjoy the Stampede spirit.
A special thank you to all of those who donated to the 3rd Annual Tenant Stampede BBQ, including: Berry Flooring, Coinamatic, Calgary Co-op, Fahrenheit 451 Fire & Security Services, Cal-Rid Exterminators Inc., Scotia Vending,
Avana Renovation Group, Superstore Southport, Superstore South Trail, Byblos Bakery, M&M Meat Shops Western Canadian Regional Office, Shoppers Drug Mart 1st St SE, Calgary Stampede, Tim Hortons, McDonald's Mount Royal, Chinook Centre,
Heritage Park, and Bryson Waind and Aldo Aguirre, who provided live music for the event.
