In October, we hosted our first ever Tenant Wellness Fair. It included participation from organizations such as: Community Kitchen Calgary, The Calgary Public Library, YW Calgary, Alberta Health Services, Calgary Meals on Wheels and many more.
What’s a wellness fair you ask? Well, it’s a miniature tradeshow and conference where all of the speakers and exhibitors offer resources that would be useful to our residents.
It can be a challenge for our residents to access services and resources or even know they exist in the first place. The wellness fair is an opportunity for residents to get their answers all in one place
Participants connected with programs ranging from Meals and Wheels and the Good Food Basket, to Momentum’s savings matching program, Calgary Counselling’s mental health supports and more!
With a few interactive presentations from these exhibitors and an engaging Q&A, attendees took home valuable knowledge of the many free resources available in Calgary.
This year, The City of Calgary generously sponsored the event, enabling our organization to host this positive initiative, and ultimately provide a crucial service for our tenants to promote their day-to-day successes with everyday living.
“Horizon Housing Society’s main priority is to see our residents succeed, and if hosting an event such as this promotes that in any way, we want to help,” said Horizon Housing CEO Martina Jileckova.
We would like to thank the exhibitors and speakers who participated, and the volunteers and employees who ensure its success. Together, we can ensure housing success for everyone!
